The studio

An interiors practice
with a builder's hands

Neelachandra Interiors has been designing homes in Bengaluru since 2007. Sixty-four people, one workshop, one standard.

Our story

Begun on a site,
not in a showroom

Neelachandra Construction and Interiors began building homes in Bengaluru in the early 2000s. We spent those years watching beautiful drawings arrive on site and quietly lose their proportions to a shortage of skill, a substituted material, or a deadline nobody had planned for.

Neelachandra Interiors was founded in 2007 to close that gap. The idea was simple and, at the time, unfashionable: the studio that draws the home should also be the firm that builds it. No handoff. No blame. One signature on the contract, one date on the calendar.

Eighteen years later that principle has become an infrastructure — an architect-led design floor in Indiranagar, a 22,000 sq ft joinery workshop in Peenya, and site teams on our own payroll rather than hired by the week. It is why we can quote a line-item BOQ before you pay us anything, and why the invoice at the end still matches it.

We remain deliberately small in output. We take on roughly eighteen homes a year. That is what the studio can do without a principal designer disappearing from your project, and we have never been persuaded to grow past it.

What we hold to

Six principles

These are not aspirations on a wall. They are the rules we use to settle arguments inside the studio.

Proportion before finish

A room with the right dimensions and the wrong marble is still a good room. The reverse is never true. We resolve volume, height and sightline first — the finish schedule comes last.

Three materials, no more

Most rooms we inherit carry seven or eight competing finishes. We work to a discipline of three primary materials per home, with a fourth reserved as a single deliberate accent.

Light is a material

We plan for the daylight your home already receives before we specify a single fixture, then layer artificial light in four tiers — ambient, task, accent and night — on separate circuits.

Say the difficult thing early

If a request will not work, will not last, or will not justify its cost, you will hear so in the first meeting rather than at the third revision. Politely, with a reason and an alternative.

The price is the price

A line-item BOQ before signing, rates locked for the contract term, and written approval required before any variation. Nothing appears on the final invoice that you have not already seen.

Build to be maintained

Serviceable hardware, replaceable finishes, accessible plumbing, documented paint codes. We design for the tenth year of a home, not the photograph taken in its first week.

Capability

What sits
behind the design

Design intent is easy to publish. Delivering it consistently across 240 homes takes plant, process and people who do not leave halfway through your project.

  • Architect-led design floor of 14 — no salespeople between you and your designer.
  • 22,000 sq ft joinery workshop at Peenya with CNC panel saw, edge-bander and spray booth.
  • In-house CAD, 3D visualisation and shop-drawing team; every panel drawn before it is cut.
  • Site engineers, carpenters, polishers and electricians on our own payroll.
  • Direct accounts with stone yards in Rajasthan and Karnataka and veneer importers in Italy.
  • Lighting design partnership for photometric layouts on all villa projects.
  • Quality gate at five checkpoints: layout, carcass, installation, finish, snag.
  • Post-handover service desk with 30, 90 and 365-day scheduled revisits.

Who you will work with

The people

You are assigned a principal designer and a project manager on day one. Both stay with your home until the 365-day revisit.

Principal Designer

Your first meeting, and your last

An architect by training who leads villa projects personally. Sets the plan, the proportions and the material direction before anything is priced.

Design Lead

Indiranagar design floor

Owns drawings, circulation and sightlines. Every shop drawing that reaches the workshop has been checked here against the signed layout.

Materials & Styling Lead

Stone, veneer, textile, light

Selects finishes in person at the yards and mills. Nothing is specified from a catalogue image, and every board is signed off physically.

Head of Execution

Workshop and site

Holds the programme, the five quality gates and the handover date. Your project manager reports here, and so does the Peenya workshop.

Part of a larger house

Neelachandra Construction
and Interiors

Neelachandra Interiors is the dedicated interiors practice of Neelachandra Construction and Interiors — a Bengaluru group whose civil and structural teams have been building in this city for over two decades. When a project needs a slab opened, a wall moved or a terrace waterproofed, we do not go looking for a contractor. We walk down the corridor.

Group capability

  • Residential construction & structural works
  • Interior design & turnkey fit-out
  • Modular manufacture (Peenya)
  • Renovation & restoration
  • Post-handover maintenance

Come and see
the workshop

Clients are welcome at Peenya any working Saturday. Watch your wardrobe carcass being cut before you decide to trust us with the rest of the house.
